SHANTEL THIESSEN

Registered Massage Therapist
Shantel graduated in 2013 with a 3000-hour Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy diploma and has been treating clients ever since. Over the years, she’s had the chance to work with athletes of all levels—from weekend warriors to professionals. Sports have always been her passion, but what really drives her is helping people recover from all kinds of injuries.
As a lifelong basketball player who’s bounced back from her fair share of injuries, Shantel knows firsthand how important it is to have a treatment plan that actually fits your lifestyle. She loves working with clients to create personalized plans that get them moving and feeling their best.
When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll probably find her out on her bike or on the court coaching basketball. She’s all about staying active, living a balanced life, and helping others do the same.

KINESIOLOGIST STUDENT
Em is in the final year of her kinesiology degree at the University of Alberta and is currently completing her practicum at FLEX under the mentorship of Shantel. With over seven years of coaching experience, she works as a performance coach with a youth competitive climbing team, supporting athletes through different stages of long-term development.
Movement has always been at the core of Em’s work. She’s passionate about helping people move better, feel more connected to their bodies, and build strength and confidence in a way that’s sustainable long-term. Her approach blends mobility training, body awareness, and evidence-informed coaching to support performance, reduce injury risk, and promote overall well-being.
Em loves working with clients who are returning to movement after injury, managing pain, or simply wanting to feel stronger and more capable in their bodies. She brings a calm, thoughtful energy to every session and values collaboration within the FLEX team to create well-rounded, personalized recovery and training plans.
